Connolly hoppas på återkallning till landslaget

Nyförvärvet från Leicester hoppas på att Irlands manager Brian Kerr ska lyfta luren och ringa honom och be honom återvända till det Irländska landslaget efter hans mycket goda start i Leicester och Wigan denna säsong, (fem mål på sex matcher).

"I do not know why I have not played for two years," säger Connolly till BBC SPORT.

"I did pull out of one Republic squad with an injury and I do not think the manager was too happy with that." 

Om Kerr ringer Connolly återstår att se - men han hoppas i alla fall på att Irland ska kvalificera sig för VM i Tyskland nästa år.
