Rangers Amerikanska ägare har utlovat en rejäl satsning inför nästa säsong då man fått in kapital till klubben genom en aktieemission, summan är på 16 miljoner pund (drygt 200 mijloner kronor) som finns tillgänglig för spelarförvärv med detsamma. De nya ägarna har därmed på de 10 månader de drivit klubben pumpat in 36 miljoner pund (drygt 450 miljoner kronor) vilket är en enorm summa för en Skotsk klubb.
Detta är givetvis goda nyheter efter alla år av ekonomisk turbulens i klubben vilket hindrat den från att göra den satsning som krävs för att jaga ifatt värste rivalen celtics dominans i Skottland.
Den här investeringen visar klart att Andrew Cavenagh och Rangers menar allvar och att man kommer inte att ge sig förrens man återigen blir Skottlands bästa lag.
I ett öppet brev till supportrarna förklarar Cavenagh läget:
“Having now spent 10 months in the club, our views on how to accomplish our ambitions are much clearer. We need to create a culture of winning, and we need to continue to prioritise and invest in the men’s first team.
“If we want to continue to improve on the pitch, we need to increase the total amount of resources of the club while also shifting as many of those resources to the men’s first team as possible.
“We are raising season ticket prices by 6.5%, except juvenile tickets, which will be kept at the same price.“We do not take ticket-prices and increases for granted. We recognise the exceptional commitment supporters make.“The costs to run the club are rising faster than the overall rate of inflation. We either need the club’s revenues to keep pace, or we need to decrease the money spent on the squad.“We don’t believe this is the time to decrease the football budget. In fact, we think the opposite.
“We’re not asking supporters to do all the heavy lifting.
“We are raising £16m of additional capital through a new share issue, effective immediately.
“The capital will be used to support player acquisitions and other club needs. This increases the total capital invested in the club to £36m in the last year.
“If we are going to ask supporters to pay more for tickets, we have an obligation to spend those funds wisely.
"We've shrunk the size and cost of the executive team.
“We’re systematically reviewing every part of the club, looking for ways to be more efficient.”
Det står också klart att klubben tycker att man inte behöver värva en ny sportchef och att man istället vill behålla Stig Inge Bjørnebye i rollen som en slags värvningskonsult.
“We believe our current football structure is working well, and we do not plan to hire a sporting director.
“The executive team is committed to being smaller, nimbler, and more entrepreneurial.”
Bortasupportrar även i nästa Old Firm
Efter våldsamheterna i samband med cupmötet mellan Rangers och celtic fanns farhågor om att bortafans återigen helt skulle portas från Old Firm på obestämd tid, men det står nu klart att polisen ger klartecken för att tillåta bortafans i årets sista Old Firm på celtic Park.
Rabbi Matondo lämnar
Det står också klart att Rangers säljer den 25-årige Walesaren Rabbi Matondo till Norska SK Brann, den evige talangen vars kontrakt skulle gå ut i sommar har bara spelat en match den här säsongen och slog aldrig riktigt igenom på Ibrox lämnar helt gratis men med en vidareförsäljningsklausul.
