Rio vill ha tre poäng

Rio Ferdinand hävdar att United inte kommer att vara nöjda med något annat än tre poäng på lördagen. Trots att det är ettan mot trean, och möjligtvis en avgörande match i titelracet, finns det ingen chans att hemmalaget kommer att nöja sig med ett oavgjort resultat, som City senast (på hemmaplan).

“We want three points. I don’t think we’ve ever gone out and played for a draw and we won’t be doing that on Saturday.

If any United fans are saying they’d be happy with a point then I hope they’re not inside Old Trafford [on Saturday] because those sorts of thoughts won’t help the team. We need positive thinking.

Playing for a point just isn’t in the DNA of Manchester United – the manager wouldn’t settle for it and the players don’t either.”

United inkasserade säsongens första förlust i ligaspelet senast mot Wolves, och Ferdinand avslöjade att stämningen i omklädningsrummet inte var speciellt bra efter matchen. Men han väljer när som helst en ligatitel före en förlustfri säsong i ligan.

“We were gutted we lost. But I’d gladly lose a game or two and still win the league.

Going through a season unbeaten doesn’t figure highly on my list of things to do. I won’t be happy in the slightest if I play in a side that goes unbeaten but doesn’t win the league. What’s the point if you don’t end up with a medal at the end of it?”
