John Ward hyllade sitt lag efter 3-0 vinsten mot Hereford i Carling Cup (LigaCupen).
Två mål från David Mooney och ett från Ian Henderson gav Colchester en klar vinst mot League two laget. Vinsten kom efter Colchesters lite oturliga 2-2 borta mot Exeter City i premiären och kom väldigt lägligt inför lördagens hemmamatch mot forna storlaget Sheffield Wednesday.
Nye managern John Ward sa:
"We've come away from home with two tough games but we can now go into the Sheffield Wednesday game on Saturday with a lot of confidence. It was good defensively, because Hereford were big opponents".
"It was a physical contest for us and after a late goal on Saturday, it was nice to keep a clean sheet."
Alla tre Colchester mål var av hög kvalié och kom efter attraktivt passningsspel från Essex-klubben. Något man inte såg mycket av under Boothroyd.
"We pass the ball like that on a daily basis in training but we don't want to be a nice team to watch that doesn't win. We want to be scoring, as well as passing the ball well."
