Following on from our 2-2 draw with league leaders Hearts over the weekend, Celtic fans were not overly confident heading into last nights tie with Utrecht.
It was not due to the threat from the Dutch side, who remain mid table in their domestic league. Celtic continue to be plagued by injuries, inconsistent player form and another disappointing transfer window.
However, as fans we can often be accused of overly focusing on the negatives. So for today, let us focus on the positives and put things into perspective.
We won 4-2, albeit with a little wobble considering we were leading 3-0 after 20 minutes. Taking the foot off the gas in a European game is not advisable, and Celtic were rightly punished.

A few short months ago our team was spiraling out of control under the disastrous guidance of Wilfrid Nancy. If we were offered, at that time, the opportunity to be still competing in Europe in February and closing out January with a chance at the domestic title, we would have jumped at it.
And here we are, with both.
Last nights game held many positives with Martin O'Neill expressing his delight with the result and the effort from the players. However, we can be sure he let his mind know in the dressing room for allowing Utrecht back into the game.
Swedens' Benjamin Nygren for me was fantastic last night. Scoring another of his trade mark goals, creating the chance for the own goal and constantly looking to get involved in our attack.
At only 24 years old, we can see why he is our top goal scorer for the season. He has this wonderful instinct for positioning and knowing where the ball is going to arrive to. Time and time again, he manages to find himself with scoring positions in the box, reading the game and slotting home goals. He scored a magnificent free kick with his left foot against hearts and we can see his confidence increasing with every game. 14 Goals and 6 assists this season, for a midfielder who cost us barely £1.7m

Every time Celtic were in the final end of the pitch, Nygren was there, making space and looking for the ball. Considering we barely even have a striker think Nygren has saved our season.
